Kazan is located in the Middle-Volga region, 500 miles to the east from Moscow and some 500 miles to the west from the Ural Mountains, the dividing line between Europe and Asia. The city is situated on the left bank of the Volga river, overseeing a majestic panorama and offering a variety of boat trips to its scenic vicinities.
The weather is typical moderate-continental with warm, sometimes hot, summer and moderate cold winter. The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is -14°C (7°F), of the warmest (July) +19°C (66°F), the annual average temperature is +2.5°C (36.5°F).
